Frequently Asked Questions
Why Soy Wax?
Soy is a natural product that is vegan and biodegradable. Soy is derived from natural ingredients leaving it free of toxins, pollutants, and is also soot free when burning. A bonus to soy candles is that it has a lower melting point allowing the candle to burn slower.
Why Trim the Wick?
Each time before lighting your candle, we recommend trimming your wick down to 1/4 of an inch. By doing this, it will allow the flame to have a clear and bright burn and it also will keep your candle clean and soot-free. If you don’t trim your wick and it gets too long, it will start to burn itself, curl over, and cause your candle to tunnel.
What is the best way to burn my candle?
Soy wax has memory, so the first burn is the most important. We recommend on the initial burn to allow your candle to pool to the edge of your jar before extinguishing the candle. Doing this will ensure that your future burns on your candle will not tunnel.
How long does a Something Scented Candle burn for?
Our candles burn time is an approximate total of 50-55 hours. We recommend burning them for only 1-3 hours at a time.
How do wash the jar if I want to reuse it?
There is an easy way to clean your jar so that you can use it for other things! All you need to do is boil water, add that water into the finished candle jar and let that sit for 2-3 hours. Within this time, the wax will melt and rise to the top of the jar. Let the wax cool and crack the hardened wax. Dump out the remaining water, rinse with warm soapy water and enjoy! Let us know some of the things you end up using our jars for!
How long can I store my candle?
Here at something scented, our candles have a shelf life of approximately 1-2 years. We recommend storing your candles in a dry place, as cold temperatures may cause the wax to sweat at the top.
